Rp10000 — Ten Thousand Rupiah
The artwork
Front: Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II of Palembang, in songket cap and court dress, set against warm pink and orange guilloche and woven South Sumatran pattern. The denomination 10000 sits large at upper left, with BANK INDONESIA and SEPULUH RIBU RUPIAH beneath the portrait. The right-hand white panel carries the Garuda Pancasila crest, the year 2009, and the two Dewan Gubernur signatures.
Back: Rumah Limas, the tiered-roof stilt house of Palembang, drawn in deep magenta with its stepped verandahs and plank stair rising from the ground. BANK INDONESIA and the red serial number run across the top right; the legal-tender text in Indonesian sits below, beside a second serial in black on the plain left panel and a repeated vertical 10000.
In circulation
Part of the 2005 emission of Indonesian notes, this design carried the 10,000-rupiah denomination through the following decade. It was superseded by the 2016 NKRI series, which put Frans Kaisiepo on the 10,000 and moved to a blue-purple colour scheme; the Badaruddin note was progressively withdrawn thereafter.
