The artwork
Front: King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama IX, in the full dress uniform of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, engraved three-quarter face with his customary spectacles. To the left, the issuer line "รัฐบาลไทย" — the Government of Thailand — above the legal tender clause and the value spelled out, ยี่สิบบาท. A crowned royal cypher medallion in orange and green fills the centre, the serial number runs in Thai numerals across the top and in Western figures at right, and the twin signatures of the Finance Minister and the Governor sit below.
Back: King Ananda Mahidol, Rama VIII, in uniform with sash and orders, sword in hand. Behind him the Rama VIII Bridge, the cable-stayed span across the Chao Phraya named for him, with the inverted-Y pylon at right. Above, the young king walking through Sampheng on his 1946 visit to Bangkok's Chinatown, attendants under a tiered umbrella. A passage of his royal counsel is printed at right, with his reign dates beneath, and a large Thai ๒๐ across the lower field.
In circulation
The Series 15 twenty, introduced in 2003 and the everyday small note of the following decade. It gave way to the Series 16 twenty from 2013, which turned the back over to King Ramkhamhaeng the Great, and the whole Bhumibol face was retired with the Series 17 notes bearing King Vajiralongkorn.
