Front: Pangeran Antasari in turban and high-collared jacket, the Banjar leader who took up the fight against the Dutch in South Kalimantan in 1859, named in small capitals beneath his shoulder. Behind him a large medallion of Kalimantan textile and carving motifs in yellow and grey. "BANK INDONESIA" and "DUA RIBU RUPIAH" run along the foot; the garuda arms sit top right above a vertical 2000, with the year 2009 and the governing board's signatures below.
Back: A line of Dayak dancers in feathered headdresses and beaded vests, staves in hand, captioned TARIAN ADAT DAYAK — traditional Dayak dance of Kalimantan. They stand against a golden ground of scrolling Dayak ornament. The issuing formula, "DENGAN RAHMAT TUHAN YANG MAHA ESA...", runs above a heavy "DUA RIBU RUPIAH" and a large 2000. Serial number EB1482422 in red at upper right and black at lower left.
In circulation
Issued from 2009 as the smallest of the then-current family, taking over much of the everyday role of the 1000 rupiah. The design was superseded by the 2016 emission, which put Mohammad Hoesni Thamrin on the 2000, though notes of this type remained in circulation and legal tender alongside it.
